Social Justice is Our Movement
Pastor Stephen Aguillard
LifeHouse Church, Louisiana
The largest congregations in the world right now are Charismatic churches. Yet, for the most part, they have not pushed back corruption or swung culture. The Church has marginal influence over its respective nations’ culture, education, politics, and legal system. A Third Great Awakening will change that.
But there will be no Third Great Awakening until the Church realizes the climax of its own Message.
The last phase in God’s program is justice! The Lord Jesus is coming back to demonstrate God’s justice on earth. God is calling us to add to the message of personal salvation, the message of national salvation. Jesus is the solution to not only personal sin, but also social injustice. The purpose of God’s laws is to convict sinners and predict justice. When you know the law, you know the future. This is true of scientific laws, as well as spiritual laws. A law is not true unless it is prophetic. Break it, and there will be certain consequences. The gospel promises both forgiveness of sins to believers and judgment on unrepentant sinners. The book of Revelation ends with justice being served on the wicked rulers and nations.
We are heading towards justice, and the “far left" have been quicker to pick up on this spiritual rendezvous than most Christians. Our youth are demanding “social justice,” and the Church has the answer--but we have been dead asleep.
People long for justice in this life. The odd thing is that it is no longer preached in most churches. The Bible has been taught for godly marriage, family, and finances, but not so much for social justice. The lack of justice in the Church means evil runs rampant in society. Ironically, the only people who are talking about justice publicly and loudly are the radical left. By Left, I mean the socialist, communist, and usually godless who want to interfere in our lives, tax us, and control us. The modern Church has abdicated its role of delivering justice. The left has hijacked our movement—justice. As a result, America--once a beacon of liberty--now stands on a moral precipice where speech codes strangle free speech, fake news poisons free press, and intolerance of the Bible is confused with religious freedom. Our youth are lost, our adults depressed, our families broken, our veterans forgotten, our seniors alone, and corrupt politicians are trying to change society by changing the laws. Evil politicians don’t like to break laws; they like to change laws. That is why the Bible says when the anti-Christ arrives, he will change the laws and the times (Daniel 7:25). Why? So injustice becomes legal, murder becomes legal, theft becomes legal, spying on citizens becomes legal.
Society is crying out for justice and Truth. The weight of injustice is breaking the back of our young people. They have nowhere to turn. But if we, the Church, would become known as agents of justice, we will see things change. The Church is the one entity that stands against tyranny, corrupt politicians, racism, and all other forms of injustice. Let’s take our rightful place in the movement.
We were made right to make things right! What injustice are you going after? Racism, abortion, education, the legal system?
Proverbs 31:8-9 (AMP) “Open your mouth for the mute, for the rights of all who are unfortunate and defenseless; open your mouth, judge righteously, and administer justice for the afflicted and needy.”
Psalm 89:14 “Righteousness and justice are the foundation of Your throne; mercy and truth go before Your face.”
