ROAR Update

ROAR Update

Susie Bashta

Living Stones Church, Indiana

Between November 7 and 13, the GlobalROAR/NRP Joint Venture started two new ROAR schools in Honduras. Over 100 pastors, their wives, and church leaders are enrolled in the three-day, monthly, modular schools.

The first school, held in one of the largest churches in Tegucigalpa, included 13 couples who had traveled into the city from their churches in the mountains surrounding the city. Two pastors traveled over 14 hours to attend! The rest of the students were pastors and ministry leaders from the capital city of Tegucigalpa, including Pastor Carlos, the senior pastor of Pasion Por Las Almas, the host church. He and all of his leaders and their wives attended the school. In fact, he has said he would not ordain any new pastors or church planters until they graduate from the nine-month accelerated program.

The first teaching team included Pastor Dick and Susie Bashta, Pastor Doug Allen, Pastor Eric Trelease, and Michelle Johns.

The second school was about four hours north in the town of El Progreso. Nestled in a valley surrounded by mountains, six different churches united to send their pastors and leaders for training and preparation to plant churches throughout their mountain region and beyond. Leaders of this launch team included the Bashta’s, Brother Clay and Anita Brooks, Ashley Roll (theROAR Registrar), and Michelle Johns.

During the worship and after the teaching sessions, the Holy Ghost moved powerfully, but with a different anointing in each school. What was the same, however, was the gratitude of the new ROAR directors and students, whose new schools and Spanish textbooks were made possible through the generous offerings from the Band of Brothers conferences this year.

We’re off to a great start, with a new teaching team heading back to Tegucigalpa for Term 2 the second week of December, a new school starting in Guatemala in January, and our first school starting in Pakistan in early March.
