EXTREME ENVIRONMENTALISM
by Keith Tucci
We are facing a new onslaught of political correctness. This particular deception is more dangerous than many others we have faced for two reasons: First, it is a direct contradiction of God’s plan as Creator and Sustainer of the earth. Secondly, it appeals to so many people in so many different schools of thought.
The movement truly is diverse. One of the reasons for this is that the movement has many entry points, almost like a highly evangelistic church. It also has many contact points. The movement I'm talking about is extreme environmentalism.
Now, if you think this movement is benign as it relates to the gospel, please be aware of the intolerance that is beginning to be released on the deniers, those of us who dare to raise questions about their insistence upon the earth’s fast approaching demise. Their incredible intolerance is just the tip of the iceberg!
Let me give you some back story: Almost forty years ago, I began to read some of the emerging climate change books. Although I am not an academic, I gave considerable time to the subject because it interested me. At that time, the scare was global cooling, believe it or not.
After much plodding, the end of the road was clear to me—the ultimate strategy and objective of extreme environmentalism is population control. Humans are considered to be the problem rather than the solution to the problem. Genesis 9:1-2 says, “And God blessed Noah and his sons and said to them, ‘Be fruitful and multiply, and fill the earth. The fear of you and the terror of you will be on every beast of the earth and on every bird of the sky; with everything that creeps on the ground, and all the fish of the sea, into your hand they are given.’”
It's important that we indoctrinate the Church as to Who our Creator is and what His perspective is on human life.
Please be advised that much of the Mother Earth agenda is driven by a strong atheistic worldview that must be biblically engaged. The word earth is mentioned over 800 times in the Bible. It took me several weeks to look at every one of those references. There is overwhelming evidence from God Himself that He will sustain the Earth. We need to take Him at His Word and not the word of the doomsday prophets who, because they don’t believe in eternity, must put all their hope in their vain efforts to sustain the earth. (This, however, is not to suggest that we should not have reasonable stewardship of our resources and environment.)
It’s important to understand the overall picture. While there has been some upward movement in earth’s temperatures, it is also true that just several decades before, we experienced a downward movement in earth’s temperatures. The truth is that the earth has cycles and because we only have approximately 100 years of solid documentation on the temperature of the earth, there is no clear data on these cycles.
It is also equally important to understand that there is zero evidence that any human activity (population growth, the use of natural resources, scientific advancements, etc.) in the past or present is affecting those temperatures. Anything contrary to this is simply conjecture.
Please call me a denier because I refuse to submit to their political correctness and agenda. I am a believer in God’s plan. Psalm 74:17 “You have established all the boundaries of the earth; You have made summer and winter.”
