10/90 INITIATIVE

The 10/90 INITIATIVE is about encouraging businesses to use 100% of their resources for God’s Kingdom.
Many business owners think that they work to give God money or “finance the Kingdom.” They do not truly understand that they serve the Lord with their work and their business, and it goes way beyond just giving money. This means every moment of our day and every part of our lives belong to Jesus.
Jesus said, “Seek first the Kingdom of God and His righteousness and all of these things will be added unto you.” Unfortunately, it is so easy for Christian business owners to have two separate lives--their business life and their church life.
God wants us to bring those worlds together. We don’t just have a business so we can give something to God. God has called us to use our companies to bring glory to his Kingdom. Every good and perfect gift comes from God, and He wants us to use all our resources for Him.
Our business is conducted outside the walls of the Church, so we have the opportunity to interact with non-believers regularly. Connecting with people to influence them is the very thing that God is calling us to do. You can use your business as a way to connect with believers and non-believers in order to connect them to Jesus.
When Jesus was on earth, He spent time engaging the culture and the people of Israel, and that is what He is calling the Church to do now as well.
Having a business is a great way to move beyond your church walls and engage in the culture. You will have contact with people who may never step inside the doors of a church. What an opportunity for those of us who see it and are willing to act on it!
As business owners, we have employees, customers, clients, and vendors we can minister to, pray for, and influence. These are all people who may be impacted directly by your relationship with the Lord.
As business owners, we have a unique set of giftings that God can and will use to bring blessing to our local church as well. We can help train the church body according to those giftings and give assistance to the pastor of our local church.
One of the best things about being in business is getting to be in charge of your own schedule. Being responsible for your own time allows plenty of room to be led by the Holy Spirit and, therefore, structure your schedule as He leads you. For example, I personally use this ability to have free time to serve others, attend prayer meetings, and also go on mission trips.
If you are in a business, you are in a unique position to be used by God as you seek Him daily.
